We now have added over
1,150 organizations to our web site. - We are
in the process of verifying this new data via phone. Sorry for the delay with the Bulletin Board but it is not ready for publication yet - Service Providers will be able to post jobs, housing, and other services they have available for those in need - Organizations will also be able to post items they need for their clients, such as, prisons may need cloths, or musical instruments, or an organization may need volunteers for an upcoming project - check back later for more details. Immediate Needs - Reception Diagnostic Center (RDC) - We are in need of clothing for adult males for releases. Pants, shirts, undergarments, shoes and coats (of all sizes for men) is needed. We are also in need of gently used books for our offenders (paperback and hardback, both fiction and nonfiction). Because we don’t have programs at our facility, reading is often the only productive way our offenders have to spend their time. | If anyone is interested in donating either, they can contact: Lisa Powers, Executive Assistant/Public Information Officer, Reception Diagnostic Center at 317-839-7727, ext 3005, 317-839-1247, fax or email me at lpowers@idoc.IN.gov. Job Fairs - If you know of any upcoming job fairs this month or next, please email that information so I can get it in our next newsletter. Thanks, Don. |

Indiana Department
of Correction - Reducing returns to prison by Kevin Lilly,
Pharos-Tribune news editor, BUNKER HILL March 28, 2009 — Although some
offenders end up back in prison a second, third or even fourth time, the
Indiana Department of Correction is making headway in reducing that
frequency. According to a recent study, Indiana’s recidivism rates
have declined for the third consecutive year. The number of offenders
incarcerated within three years of their release from a state
correctional institution has dropped to 37.4 percent from 37.8 percent
the previous year. | Click here to view
the rest of the article. Congratulations C.H.I.P. - HRH would like to thank C.H.I.P. and all the volunteers that helped put on their 4th Annual Indy Homeless Connect program. They served over 900 homeless persons this year. Congratulations to the C.H.I.P. staff and to all that helped! To view their short video, click here. |
